The Mudlarks

The Mudlarks as they are affectionately known in the club originally formed to cater for club members who are retired or have the opportunity to run during the day to miss those dreary winter evenings.

They meet in the Forest at Wilverley Plain Car Park on Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 09:30 . If any member is free to run at that time they are all very welcome to join them.

They are usually split into the following 5 groups: -
Fast Group running between 7 to 10 miles
Medium Group running between 5 to 7 miles
Slow Group running between 4 to 6 miles
Remedial Group – Jogging and walking between 3 to 5 miles
(This is mainly for runners returning from injury or illness)
Walking Group – walking between 5 to 7 miles

After all their efforts they all gather for a chat and coffee – very important.

The Mudlarks often go “en masse” to many Off-Road events such as the: Mean Valley Plod, The Stonehenge Stomp, 54321 etc. Occasionally they can also be seen competing abroad – Cyprus , Malta , Spain etc

Brian Davey ex UKA coach and Alec Osborn,Tony Taylor,John hunt,Dave Johnsen, and Pauline Breeze [all UKA coaches] run this group and can give advice on training and injuries etc. .
